Many, but not all, there were significant improvements after treatment, with about 55% clearance. United States: Twenty-five patients suffering from inflammatory acne were treated with blue light therapy on one side (8 sessions in 4 weeks) and clindamycin, the other (twice daily for 4 weeks). Finally, the researchers compared the results of the two treatments. The side treated with clindamycin showed an improvement of about 22%, while those treated with blue light therapy by about 40% showed an improvement. However, after 8 weeks of treatment did not remain part clindamycin better results. Israel: Three separate studies, 10, 13 and 25 patients with inflammatory acne have been conducted to measure the effects of blue light acne treatment. In all three studies, over 80% of all patients responded well to treatment, showing between 59% and 67% improvement. Japan: 30 patients with mild to moderate acne received blue light acne treatment twice a week for up to five weeks. 80% of all patients, the lesions decreased by about 64%. The rest of their experience or no adverse effects. Unfortunately, the number of people participating in these studies is too small. In general, clinical trials to test new therapies to enroll hundreds or even thousands of patients. Given the small number of companies involved in blue light acne treatment studies, no statistically valid conclusions can be drawn. However, these studies reveal that the blue light therapy has positive effects in some people who suffer from acne. This works best for inflammatory acne and may not be safe for use in patients with cystic acne lesions.
