My skin is prone to acne even though I am over 40. I’ve had acne since age 9 and since I am a medium dark skinned African American I get brown marks that in my opinion are much worst than having pimples. I had been using Hydroquinone since age 11, but lately I have been reading that it can be a carcinogen, so I decided to start looking for something safer.
Interestingly enough I bought PCA Skin PHaze 13 Pigment Bar years ago, but never even tried it. I figured it probably wouldn’t work on black skin, but I was too lazy to return it since I had ordered it through the mail. So I just put it away in my medicine cabinet and left it there.
Finally I decided to use it since I paid for it, and within a week I was totally floored with how nice my skin looked. The skin discolorations are nearly gone. I can barely see them. Over dinner with my sister one day, she commented about how great my skin looked. Bear in mind that I have ALWAYS had brown marks on my face, even while using Hydroquinone, but PHaze 13 is the stuff. I try a lot of skin products and have commented on a lot of them. They work initially, but eventually my skin gets used to them and they stop working, but it has been months later and Phaze 13 Pigment Bar is still going strong. I am just about out of it. I plan on continuing to use this product and I hope they never ever stop making it. I don’t know what I would do.
The only other skin product I use is Benzoyle Peroxide 2.5% at night after washing with regular soap (like Dove) and then I use Phaze 13 in the morning (the directions say to use it once a day). I swear, I cannot take my eyes off my own skin. I wish this product was around when I was a teen ager. I highly recommend it!

I tried this product after success with other pca products. I use this cleanser in the morning and I use the acne bar in the evenings. I have done this for 6 weeks now and I can truly see a difference in my complexion. My skin is less oily and much clearer. I like this combination because it seems to combat my acne along with scaring from older scars. I say this is a good first step into the PCA product line. I also utilize the A/C serum, the true tone, clearskin and oil free sunscreen. My skin has not looked better! If you suffer from acne I highly recommend the PCA line and this pigment bar is a good way to start building upon the line. If you are weary of dropping a lot of cash they do have “trial size” intro packets!!

|Decent product, lousy company,
I have been using this product a month along with the pigment gel and I can see a slight difference already. The combination of products is very skin-irritating so I recommend a gradual build up of applications rather than doing it twice a day from the start. I am giving it a lower rating because the company PCA does not take calls or respond to e-mails with questions about their products. My skin was peeling pretty bad and was quite irritated and when I tried to contact the company they never bothered to respond to tell me this was normal. I was a little surprised.
